Thoughts: How Much is Too Much?

I watched the show on the other day: ‘Middle easterner Richest Businessmen’ on Discovery Travel and Living channel. And I saw this Syech Hammed or whoever who earns billions and billions USD per year that he spent on building gigantic palace(s) (instead of a house), bought thousands of cars (7 different colors for each type of car driven for each different day of the week.. . d’oh). He’s the materialistic king of the world. He’s only human.

As voracious as I can be, I have this one lame excuse that I’m also only human.
And up to this point in my life, I’ve never allowed my self to cease my avidity to rushing up to things within/beyond my reach. What I want is what I must have... DSLR Camera, shoes, big screen LCD TV, Scooter, whatever, whatever.
It’s so worldly, some might say. So naïve/stupid, I might add. But then, isn’t that what keeps people alive (miserably)? …having desires, grasping anything to fulfill their wishes. And as you walk along you know that you have a never ending list of wishes… And I guess the list will not come to an end as long as we’re alive.

And as I think of it, I read this manifesto:

Lesser Living For A Fuller Life
Own less. Create more.
Buy less. Share more.
Work less. Play more.

Less impulsive shopping. More frugal consuming.
Less wanting. More gratitude.
Less needing. More contentment.
